The Saint Andrew’s Organ: The original St. Andrew’s Organ was a modest tracker (mechanical) instrument of fourteen ranks of pipes built and installed in 1907 by the M.P. Moller Company of Hagerstown, Maryland. In 1954, the same company electrified the instrument, disconnected the few façade (display) pipes that previously spoke with the rest of the organ, and provided the moveable console still in use today. In 1977, The W. Zimmer & Sons company of Charlotte, North Carolina removed all but four ranks (213 original pipes) in the organ and replaced them with pipes that largely give the organ the tonal character it has today. Additional work has been done on the instrument since 1977 and most recently (August 2003) the organ has been releathered. The specification of the present organ is found here: Pedal: Bourdon 16', 8', 4' (56 pipes)
Principal 8', 4', 2', (73 pipes. Last 12 notes
of the 2' stop are notes 73-85 of Gedackt) Rohrflute 8 (61 pipes)
